Aaims Student Guild

Our Guild is a platform built for professionals and students to communicate and collaborate with the highest quality, integrity and value.

From orientation day, students are welcomed by the Guild Council and are ushered into the AAIMS student experience. The guild plans various activities throughout the year that are outlined in The Guild’s calendar of events. Some of these events include voluntary programmes, fundraisers and activities for leisure. Students are encouraged to get involved in the various guild committees, as well as to attend monthly guild meetings.

The Ministry Of Education, Jamaica

AAIMS received Charter to establish and operate school of medical sciences from the Government of Jamaica in May 2009. Graduates of AAIMS are eligible to apply for practice medicine in Jamaica upon successfully registering with the Medical Council of Jamaica.

University Council Of Jamaica (UCJ)

AAIMS is registered by the University Council of Jamaica, as a Tertiary Level Institute.AAIMS Associate Degree in Health Sciences is accredited by the UCJ from March 01, 2019-February 28, 2023

World Federation For Medical Education (WFME)

AAIMS is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDMS).

The World Directory of Medical Schools has been developed through a partnership between the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the University of Copenhagen.

International Medical Education Directory

AAIMS is listed in International Medical Education Directory (IMED). Students and graduates of AAIMS are eligible to sit for USMLE, in fulfilment of the ECFMG Certification requirements for applying into the USA residency programs.

IMED is maintained by Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) with information made available by Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), USA. ECFMG Certification is a requirement for international medical graduates seeking unrestricted license to practice medicine in the USA. To be certified by ECFMG, international medical graduates (IMGs) must, among other requirements, meet certain medical education credential requirements. All IMGs must have been awarded credit for at least four credit years (academic years for which credit has been given toward completion of the medical curriculum) by a medical school that is listed in the IMED.

World Health Organization

World Health Organization (WHO)/AVICENNA Directories: AAIMS is listed in World Health Organization/AVICENNA Global Directories of Education Institutions for Health Professions. The AVICENNA Directories is a publicly accessible database of schools, colleges, and universities for education of academic professions in health. For medical educational institutions, this replaces the World Directory of Medical Schools published by WHO since 1953.

Medical Council Of Canada

AAIMS World Directory of Medical Schools listing is recognized by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) for certification and eligibility for medical licensure in Canada. Graduates of AAIMS are eligible to sit for Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) and Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examinations (MCCQE).

Medical Council Of India (MCI)

AAIMS is approved by Medical Council of India and included in the list of foreign medical colleges/universities for the purposes of IMC Act 1956. AAIMS Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualification is a recognized medical qualification by the Medical Council of India for the purposes of issuance of Eligibility Certificate, entitle a candidate to appear in the Screening Test and grant of provisional/permanent registration by the concerned State Medical Council.

Association For Medical Education In Europe (AMEE)

AAIMS is an institutional member with the AMEE. The Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) is a worldwide organisation with members in 90 countries on five continents. AMEE promotes international excellence in education in the healthcare professions across the continuum of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. AMEE, working with other organisations, supports teachers and institutions in their current educational activities and in the development of new approaches to curriculum planning, teaching and learning methods, assessment techniques and educational management, in response to advances in medicine, changes in healthcare delivery and patient demands and new educational thinking and techniques.

The Caribbean Accreditation Authority For Education In Medicine And Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

AAIMS has been granted initial provisional accreditation status from July 2010 to July 2016 and later withdrawn by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions, the accrediting body for M.D. degree programs in the Caribbean Community.

Accreditation standards require AAIMS to address five specific areas in the development phase: Institutional Setting, Educational program, students, faculty, and resources. AAIMS is currently in the process of internally preparing for accreditation and further updates will be posted on our website.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Associate Degree in Health Sciences (Pre-Med Program)

AAIMS offers a 4 semester (16 month) Pre-Med Program for High School graduates to fulfill requisites for entering into MD program. Once students complete the program successfully, they are transferred to AAIMS 4-year MD program. Students are awarded “Associate Degree in Health Sciences” after graduating from Pre-Med program and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree after graduating from 4-year MD program.

This track is ideal for highly motivated graduating High School students who are committed to study medicine and are ready to begin their medical studies immediately after completing high school. It is also the path for non-traditional students who need to complete prerequisite courses before being accepted to the AAIMS MD program.

MD PROGRAM

To ensure a successful academic career at the All American Institute of Medical Sciences and to correlate with licensure guidelines, please complete the following prerequisites.

All applicants applying for 4-year MD Program are required to have completed at least 2 academic years and 90 credit hours of undergraduate studies including the following subjects:

  • English (6 credit hours).
  • Biology (8 credit hours).
  • General Chemistry (8 credit hours).
  • Organic Chemistry (8 credit hours).
  • Physics (8 credit hours).
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL): 231/ International English Language testing System (IELTS): 6.0 (except for students from USA, UK, Canadian and other English-Speaking countries). This requirement may be waived based on students’ other credentials.
  • Medical College Admission Test (MCAT): This requirement is not mandatory but you will be given preference if you have MCAT scores.

Students who do not fulfill the above pre-requisites can get admission into the Pre-med program at AAIMS to complete the requirements.
